The Violence Reduction Unit’s groundbreaking gangs project, CIRV (Community Initiative to Reduce Violence) is to feature in a Channel 4 documentary presented by Cherie Blair.

The 60 minute Dispatches programme follows Mrs Blair as she looks at the work of the CIRV team, and includes interviews with gang members  who have signed up to the initiative, street level advocates, project leaders and VRU head Chief Superintendent John Carnochan.

During the course of filming Mrs Blair was also given the opportunity to observe one of the initiative’s self referral sessions, held at Glasgow Sheriffs' Court. Although the session itself was not filmed, Mrs Blair’s reaction to it was, an experience she found both inspirational and affecting.
