Violence Reduction Unit Anti-Violence Campaign Domestic Abuse Conference, Wednesday, 10 March 2010, Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh.

Following on from our Domestic Abuse phase, this conference will provide an opportunity for practitioners, policymakers, police and other interested parties to meet and discuss issues around this theme.

Among the speakers at the event will be one of America’s leading anti-sexist male activists, Jackson Katz. An educator, filmmaker and author of The Macho Paradox: Why Some Men Hurt Women and How All Men Can Help, Jackson is the co-founder of the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) programme, a large scale effort which has enlisted high school, collegiate and professional athletes to help in the fight against men’s violence towards women. He is also the director of MVP Strategies, which has provided gender violence prevention training and materials to US colleges, high schools, law enforcement agencies, the US military services, community organisations and numerous corporations.

If you would like to attend the conference, please contact the Violence Reduction Unit on 0141 532 5847.
